For the past 11 years, Fire Island Black Out (FIBO) was the “premier multicultural event for the LGBT community and their families and friends." Sadly, unforeseen circumstances forced the Fire Island mainstay to cancel its 2014 event.
As unfortunate as its 2014 closing was—the hiccup was due to many beachgoers not purchasing FIBO admission bracelets—, FIBO recently underwent a financial redesign to ensure that all expenses are accounted for, including beach cleanup, trash removal, security, staff, tents, and more. The redesign also calls for a new as-of-yet determined location.
Priding itself as one of the nation’s “largest, most diverse, and friendliest three day beach events for the LGBT community,” it’s fantastic news that FIBO will making its awaited return to Fire Island next year.
Check out FIBO's assortment of dark, milk, and white chocolate eye candy from years' past here, and stay tuned for more information on 2015's event.
